HILO, HI — Eco-Crusher® Hawaii, a dealer for Shamong, NJ-based Giberson Enterprises, LLC, held an open house on December 15, 2007, to unveil its new facility in Hilo, HI. The new 6,000-square-foot facility will house inventory of all Eco-Crusher excavator-mounted jaw crusher bucket models and wear parts, so the dealer can immediately serve customers on all of Hawaii’s islands. Attaching to any brand of excavator, the Eco-Crusher scoops and crushes concrete, basalt, aggregate, and other recycle and demolition material onsite – saving contractors hundreds of dollars per truckload on hauling and tipping costs.
More than 100 contractors, suppliers, friends and family members attended the open house event – enjoying a variety of island food delicacies, and witnessing the traditional Hawaiian blessing ceremony with the untying of the Maile vine across the opening gate.
“This new facility allows us to keep inventory, so we can ship a bucket immediately when a customer needs one,” said Herman Ludwig, owner of Eco-Crusher Hawaii. “I can easily demonstrate the bucket crushing material on our job sites, and then instead of waiting months for shipping, we can have a bucket or wear parts in their hands in a few days.”
Ludwig has also owned a contracting company – Ludwig Construction – for the past six years. Ludwig Construction is a general contracting company that handles everything involved in site work, including grading and excavation, demolition and paving. Ludwig first purchased the Eco-Crusher at the World of Concrete show in January 2006, buying it for his own use. After significantly cutting his costs using the bucket crusher in his operation, Ludwig saw a need for the attachment in Hawaii and formed a partnership with Giberson Enterprises, becoming the Hawaii distributor in late 2006.
“Because Hawaii’s islands are mostly made up of basalt, a hard volcanic rock, contractors have a lot of rock to deal with when completing a job,” said Ludwig. “With the Eco-Crusher, we can crush all of that material back into the trenches and then take any excess back to our facility for use on other jobs. We cut our material costs in half, saving tremendously on hauling, fuel and material purchases for other jobs. We don’t have to buy material anymore, and now we are much more competitive when bidding on jobs.”
The Eco-Crusher line includes the BF60 for 10-ton or larger excavators; the BF70 for 15-ton or larger excavators; the BF90 for 25-ton or larger excavators; and the BF120 for 40-ton and larger excavators. Production rates range from 15 TPH on the smallest bucket up to 99 TPH on the largest. The bucket crushes a maximum input product thickness of 15 inches-minus for recyclable material and 10 inches-minus for rock, into an end product that ranges from six inches down to one inch-minus.
